Special Technologies

The standard reactions that are listed under Performed Reactions. In particular, through several decades of experience, we have accumulated in-depth knowledge for the following highly specific reaction types.

High Pressure Reaction

We can perform reactions up to a pressure of 100 bar (1,400 psi) in especially designed reactors with a reaction volume of 1,000 l and up to 250 °C. This reaction comprises the use of gaseous material and low boiling solvents at elevated temperature, as well as Diels-Alder-Reactions, where the equilibrium can be moved into the right direction by application of pressure. 

Hydrogenation

The reaction with hydrogen needs very special precautions and a specific safety design of the equipment used. This has all been fulfilled on our premises, and only very skilled workers are carrying out such hazardous reactions. Hydrogenation can be done using Raney-Nickel, as well as all kind of precious metal catalysts, predominantly in a heterogeneous system. However, also homogeneous catalysis can be carried out, even though the work-up procedure is very often more complicated. The pressure that can be reached is 100 bar (1,400 psi) with a temperature range up to 250 °C. Reaction volumes are 1,000 l (100 bar) up to 6,000 l (20 bar)

Grignard Reaction

We are equipped with especially designed reactors for the preparation of the Grignard reagent itself, starting from the organic halide and magnesium. As an advantage, we are consequently not limited to the few available reagent solutions, and are very flexible in carrying out a variety of Grignard reactions.

Especially the initiation of the reaction can be difficult and challenging. Over decades we have acquired the technical Know-How to carry out this reaction successfully, safely, and efficiently.
